Overview:

Mountain Breeze is an 8,800-square-foot new-build Airbnb designed with hospitality in mind. The project focused on integrating a wide range of recreational activities and amenities into a thoughtful floor plan. The client’s vision centered on creating a property that guests would find memorable, with spaces crafted for relaxation, entertainment, and enjoyable shared moments.

Project Goals:

The client’s primary goal was to create an Airbnb that maximizes occupancy, fun, and overall enjoyment. They wanted what they described as “the coolest Airbnb on the market,” featuring a pickleball court, two primary suites, multiple bunk rooms, a spacious main-floor gathering area, a golf simulator/theater room, arcade, rock wall, and a separate apartment suite. All of these elements needed to fit together efficiently, without creating a larger footprint than necessary.

Design and Implementation:

The design balanced two architectural styles—mountain modern and European-inspired contemporary—resulting in a home that feels fresh and welcoming. The team focused on optimizing floor plans to include the requested features while maintaining flow and comfort. The main living area prioritizes group interaction, while the arcade/theater room and separate apartment suite provide versatile options for guests seeking entertainment or privacy.

Close collaboration with the client guided key design decisions. The client offered regular input during online meetings, encouraging the design team to use the interior space as efficiently as possible. The result is a layout unlike the team’s typical custom homes, featuring carefully scaled spaces that pack in the requested amenities while preserving a pleasant atmosphere.

Aesthetic Features:

Mountain Breeze highlights include a moody industrial arcade/theater room, a modern garage court area, and a luxurious backyard designed for relaxation. The home’s stylistic blend provides a sense of variety and personality, appealing to guests of all ages. Careful placement of finishes and lighting helped create a distinct character for each activity space, enhancing the home’s appeal as a vacation rental.

Team and Process:

The core team—Michael, Owen, Brad, and Thiago—handled floor plan layout, exterior styling, backyard configuration, and renderings. The client offered feedback throughout the process, helping ensure that their vision of a guest-focused, activity-packed vacation rental came together successfully.
