Twilight Ridge

Overview:

Twilight Ridge is a 12,625-square-foot new-build residence located in Highland, Utah. Conceived as a resort-like retreat, the home showcases an impressive range of amenities designed to create an environment filled with memorable experiences. Every space was planned with comfort, leisure, and style in mind, resulting in a home that reflects the client’s vision of having the “coolest home possible.”

Project Goals:

The primary goal was to incorporate a variety of unique features within the given square footage and lot size. From an indoor pickleball court and a separate above-garage mancave to an indoor gym with a recovery room and a golf simulator/theater area, the design team needed to achieve a balance between function and enjoyment. The client also requested a basement-level exterior courtyard that provides natural light and access to the backyard, a separate pool house, and a private zen garden with a hot tub directly off the primary suite. The objective was to create a transitional-style home that feels like a personal resort, offering diverse activity spaces alongside everyday living areas.

Design and Implementation:

Starting from a home plan the client admired, the design team collaborated closely with the owner through multiple meetings and calls. Each session focused on refining layout options, especially for the primary suite, and finding ways to integrate all requested features without exceeding the allotted space. To help guide decisions, the team produced construction documents and high-quality renderings, ensuring the client could visualize material choices and stylistic elements.

In the lower level, special attention was given to natural light. Custom window wells and a basement courtyard were introduced, allowing sunlight to reach bedrooms and main living areas on that level. This approach ensured that even the underground portions of the home would feel welcoming and bright.

The client’s preference for a transitional style inspired a blend of modern and traditional elements. The exterior design underwent multiple renderings to showcase different materials and color palettes, giving the client confidence in the final selections. Outdoor areas, including tiered front yard landscaping and thoughtfully designed exterior spaces, further contributed to the resort-like atmosphere.

Challenges and Solutions:

The primary challenge was integrating numerous amenities into a single residence without overwhelming the design. By working through multiple layout options and presenting them to the client, the team pinpointed the arrangements that best aligned with the homeowner’s priorities. These interactive design sessions allowed the client to express preferences and provide feedback, leading to a plan that met all goals.

Outcome:

Twilight Ridge stands as a highlight of creative planning and client-focused collaboration. The final design successfully weaves a dynamic range of recreational, relaxation, and living spaces into one cohesive home. The work on Twilight Ridge impressed the client, who later entrusted the team to design their personal residence as well. The home serves as an example of how thoughtful design, open communication, and flexible solutions can bring a client’s dream of a resort-like retreat to life.
